Meanwhile Xen 4.7 introduced \"soft-reset\" for HVM domUs. This host feature removes the requirement to un-ballon the domU prior kexec. With Xen 4.13 cpuid faulting became the default, which affects the approach used in this patch to detect the domU type. As a result, invoking kexec in dom0 failed.
