Summary : A security tool designed to detect and stop port scanner\nprograms in real-time.
|
Description :
Sentry is a security tool which runs on multiple TCP and UDP sockets to detect port scans against your system. Sentry reacts to a port scan by blocking the port scanning host. Blocking is accomplished by dropping the local route back to the attacker, by using the ipfwadm command and/or by automatically adding the attacking host\'s IP address to a TCP wrappers host.deny file. Sentry has an internal state engine which remembers previously connected hosts (to avoid false alarms). Sentry reports violations to local or remote syslog daemons, indicating the system name, the time of attack, the attacking host\'s IP address and to which TCP or UDP port the connection attempt was made.
