Summary : The Linux kernel (the core of the Linux operating system) with Vserver support
|
Description :
The kernel package contains the Linux kernel (vmlinuz), the core of your Mandriva Linux operating system. The kernel handles the basic functions of the operating system: memory allocation, process allocation, device input and output, etc.
For instructions for update, see: http://www.mandriva.com/en/security/kernelupdate
NOTE: This kernel is built with Vserver support. It has no Mandriva patches and no third-party drivers. Linux-VServer provides virtualization for GNU/Linux systems. This is accomplished by kernel level isolation. It allows to run multiple virtual units at once. Those units are sufficiently isolated to guarantee the required security, but utilize available resources efficiently, as they run on the same kernel.
