Summary : The source code for the Linux kernel
|
Description :
The kernel-vserver-source package contains the source code files for the Linux kernel. Theese source files are only needed if you want to build your own custom kernel that is better tuned to your particular hardware.
If you only want the files needed to build 3rdparty (nVidia, Ati, dkms-*,...) drivers against, install the *-devel-* rpm that is matching your kernel.
For instructions for update, see: http://www.mandriva.com/en/security/kernelupdate
NOTE: This kernel is built with Vserver support. It has no Mandriva patches and no third-party drivers. Linux-VServer provides virtualization for GNU/Linux systems. This is accomplished by kernel level isolation. It allows to run multiple virtual units at once. Those units are sufficiently isolated to guarantee the required security, but utilize available resources efficiently, as they run on the same kernel.
