Description :
Samba is a suite of programs that allows SMB/CIFS clients to use the
Unix file space, printers, and authentication subsystem.
The package named samba-dc contains all programs that are needed to act as
an Active Directory Domain Controller. This packages does not include an
smb.conf file because it will be created when you provision an AD domain.
The quick steps to provision a new AD domain and start the service are:
samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --realm mydomain.lan \\
--host-name mydc1 --domain MYDOMAIN --server-role dc \\
--adminpass MySuperSecretPassword
cp /var/lib/samba/private/krb5.conf /etc/
echo -e \"search mydomain.lan\
nameserver 127.0.0.1\" > /etc/resolv.conf
systemctl enable samba
systemctl restart samba
