Summary : qmail Mail Transfer Agent
|
Description :
qmail is a small, fast, secure replacement for the sendmail package, which is the program that actually receives, routes, and delivers electronic mail.
*** Note: Be sure and read the documentation as there are some small but very significant differences between sendmail and qmail and the programs that interact with them.
The file README.patches in the documentation directory contains important information on rebuilding qmail with various patches such as the qmailqueue patch, TLS support in qmail, etc. The file README.RPM in the documentation directory contains additional information about how this particular qmail package was built.
You can also rebuild qmail with some optional patches and enhancements. The following are valid build options (ie. use with --rebuild):
--with qmailqueue Use the qmailqueue patch --with tls Use the TLS patch --with linksync Use the linksync patch --with smtpauth Use the SMTP-AUTH patch --with nocrammd5 Don\'t use CRAM-MD5 support with the SMTP-AUTH patch --with ldap Use the LDAP patch --with dietlibc Build with dietlibc --with msglog Allow the use of alias/.qmail-msglog
Please note that the dietlibc support is *very* experimental.
