lists (\'nlist\', \'as.nlist\', \'is.nlist\'), formulas (\'is.formula\'), empty
objects (\'as.empty\', \'is.empty\'), whole numbers (\'as.wholenumber\',
\'is.wholenumber\'); testing for equality (\'almost.equal\', \'almost.zero\')
