Summary : tcpdump is a sniffer and protocol analyzer.
|
Description :
tcpdump is a command-line tool for monitoring network traffic. It can capture and display the packet headers on a particular network interface or on all network interfaces. It can display all of the packet headers, or just the ones that match a particular criteria.
tcpdump is a must in every network administrators toolbox. You should install it if you want to monitor network traffic on the wire-level.
This particular binary supports IPv6 and encrypted packets, but not the historically buggy Server Message Block (SMB - Samba) protocol.
