Summary : Specially compiled RPM binaries for rescue operations.
|
Description :
This package contains binaries linked in a such way that the only dynamic dependencies are the libraries residing in /lib, therefore these binaries can be used for rescue operations when no filesystems except for the root filesystem are available.
Due to the nature of these binaries (they are mostly static) the occupied space by this package is quite significant: around 10MB on your root filesystem.
Another catch is that you need to be familiar with RPM tools since if %_rpmlibdir is not available you will need to provide the essential configuration options manually, e.g.:
To get a list of all packages from the database
To rebuild the database saving the new copy in /tmp/db
-D \'_dbpath_rebuild /tmp/db\' -D \'_rpmlock_path /tmp\' --rebuilddb
To extract the content of a package into the current directory
