Summary : PM-Utils ACPI/APM Event Daemon
|
Description :
For newer h/w. acpid is a daemon that dispatches ACPI events to user-space programs.
For older h/w. apmd is a daemon that dispatches APM events to user-space programs. To enable apm, boot with acpi=off
pm-utils is probably the best as it usea Hal, so it puts acpi/apm out of style but we keep them all together as acpi is stil useful for setting up hotkeys. The newest series of pm-utils 1.4.x puts Hal out of style but will still use Hal for our purposes :-)
