Summary : PLPlot 2D/3D plotting library
|
Description :
This is the distribution for PLplot, a scientific plotting package. PLplot is relatively small, portable, freely distributable, and is rich enough to satisfy most users. It has a wide range of plot types including line (linear, log), contour, 3D, fill, and almost 1000 characters (including Greek and mathematical) in its extended font set. The package is designed to make it easy to quickly get graphical output; only a handful of function calls is typically required. For more advanced use, virtually all aspects of plotting are configurable.
Notes on the plplot configuration underlying this package for the RH 6.2 build environment:
(i) We use --with-double=yes to give double precision.
(ii) A large number of drivers are configured by default including tk, png and jpeg, and we also explicitly configure --enable-gnome to include the gnome driver. But on RH 6.2, libtcl, libgd, and libgtk+ are too old so these mentioned drivers are automatically eliminated from the drivers list by the configure script. On RH 7.x it will be a different story.
(iii) We explicitly configure --enable-octave, but octave is not supported on RedHat 6.2 (7.x may be different, we don\'t know) so the configure script automatically disables it.
(iv) On RedHat 6.2 (but not 7.x) tcl is too old for PLplot to support it so the configuration automatically disables it.
Note that when crippled/ancient RH 6.2 is replaced by a more modern distribution for the build there are going to be lots of additional dependency issues to deal with. You have been warned.
